Services at Hood

Flight Training
The Wairarapa Aero Club offers pilot training, including private and commercial pilot licenses. With less congestion than the city and beautiful mountain views, there's nowhere better to learn to fly.

Classic Aircraft
Hood Aerodrome is home to a world leading collection of vintage aircraft, including historic WW1 warbirds. Aviation enthusiasts will get a kick out of seeing and even flying in these classic planes.

Events
Airshows, fly-ins, and aviation festivals all feature in the Hood calendar. These events feature aerobatic displays, classic aircraft, and opportunities for enthusiasts to see aircraft up close.







Our History
A rich aviation tradition
Since 1931 Hood Aerodrome has captured the imagination of visitors and pilots alike. Named for pioneering aviator George Hood, it has been a hub for Wairarapa aviators for more than 90 years.
Hood is a truly unique place with soaring mountains to the west, rolling hills in the east, and WW1 warbirds taking to the skies.
